Effideck™ Bridge, Cascadilla Creek, Ithaca, NY
The precast concrete deck of this aging steel arch bridge, carrying Stewart Ave. over Cascadilla Creek in Ithaca, NY, was efficiently and economically replaced using the patented Effideck™ System. The Effideck™ System consisted of a 5 in. thick precast concrete deck and structural steel tubes. The bridge is 151 ft long by 41 ft wide and is a vital link to nearby Cornell University.

The lightweight Effideck™ precast concrete panels were installed to upgrade the capacity of this bridge. The project, completed in 2001, exemplifies how the modular concept allowed the contractor to redeck the bridge virtually overnight. The units were installed in two days.
