Improvements to Lincoln Park Bridges, Routes 1 & 9, Jersey City, NJ


The T-WALL® retaining wall solution was the appropriate choice for this site due to poor soils and anticipated settlement. The attractive form liner finish on the face of the precast concrete T-WALL® wingwalls simulate existing stone retaining walls in the area surrounding Lincoln Park in Jersey City, NJ. High capacity Routes 1 & 9 bisect the park necessitating this vehicular bridge and a similar pedestrian bridge nearby.

The structural precast parapet on top of the T-WALL® was manufactured with architectural details simulating a balustrade barrier. A light pole base with conduits was cast integrally with the parapet.

This pedestrian bridge nearby is also supported on piles while the precast concrete T-WALL® is backfilled with lightweight material to minimize settlement.
