Magnolia Ave. over Routes 1& 9, Elizabeth, NJ


The T-WALL® retaining wall solution was chosen over other proprietary wall options on this project due to its cost effectiveness. The bridge and corresponding embankments were built to eliminate the at-grade crossing of Magnolia Avenue and the extremely busy Routes 1 & 9 just south of Newark Airport in Elizabeth, NJ. The precast parapet with architectural balustrade relief was specified simulating historic bridges in the surrounding area.

Three T-WALL® wingwalls were constructed to allow for walkways to be built adjacent to the elevated roadway.

A light pole base with conduits was cast integrally with the parapet, and attractive curved-top fencing was installed after the parapet was set.
