Curry Road over Route I-890, Schenectady, NY
The Curry Road Bridge carries Route 7 over Interstate I-890 in Schenectady County, New York. The NYS Department of Transportation designed this structure using prefabricated bridge units to accelerate construction and minimize the impact to the traveling public. This four-span bridge consists of twenty-four individual bridge units and was erected over one weekend, at night, from Friday evening through Sunday morning. The contractor was allowed twenty-four days to close Curry Road, yet completed the work and opened the bridge to traffic in just sixteen days. Traffic was stopped on the interstate highway below only while the bridge units were being lifted into place, which occurred in the evenings during off-peak hours.

The bridge received an asphalt overlay within days of the bridge units being installed. After the installation of the fencing and guide rail, traffic over the bridge was restored.
The fascia curb with guide rail anchorage and granite curb was cast on the bridge units at the precast plant. Tight tolerances during manufacture facilitated the alignment of the fascia and the curb over the four spans.
