Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY


This attractive retaining wall at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY enabled the installation of a new access ramp and an additional parking area for the emergency room entrance. Standard precast concrete T-Wall® units were cast with a brown exposed aggregate finish and topped with a highway rated parapet. The uniform horizontal and vertical line pattern and the soft, earth tone color pleasantly blends this structure into the adjacent residential neighborhood.

The 26’ high wall, consisting of (315) T-Wall® units, was topped with (14) sections of a specially designed precast concrete parapet. The parapet was designed to provide a pleasing border to the wall as well as a safety barrier to the traffic. This T-Wall® application demonstrates that economical T-Wall® units may be customized to meet architectural as well as engineering needs.
