Riverdale Ave., Bronx, NY


Standard precast T-Wall® units masquerades as a beautiful laid-up stone retaining wall supporting Riverdale Avenue in Bronx, NY. The New York City Department of Design and Construction (NYCDDC) used T-Wall® to top a cast-in-place concrete base apron that was anchored to rock behind the base of the wall. Exceeding 25’ in height the T-Wall® accommodates different grades above and below the wall as well as a pronounced horizontal curvature as seen in the photo above.

A black wrought iron fence befitting the adjacent historic neighborhood rises from the traffic-rated precast parapet that crowns the T-Wall® units. T-Wall® units were cast with a random ashlar form liner finish. The wall was completed in April, 2004.
