Fort Miller Precast Earns Two PCI Awards for Schuylkill River Bridge Trail Project

Fort Miller Precast is proud to announce that our work on the Schuylkill River Bridge Trail in Philadelphia has been recognized by the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) with two significant honors:

  • Special Award: Structural Innovation
  • Transportation Award: Bridge with a Main Span More Than 201 Feet

This project features a striking cable-stayed pedestrian bridge with twin pylons and innovative precast components, including curved U girders, bulb tees, and precast deck slabs. These elements allowed for precise fabrication, accelerated installation, and minimized environmental impact—all while delivering a durable, efficient connection between Christian Street and Greys Ferry Crescent.

Collaboration Made It Possible

We extend our sincere thanks to our project partners for their expertise and teamwork:

  • Owner: City of Philadelphia
  • PCI-Certified Precast Producer: Northeast Prestressed Products
  • Engineer: AECOM
  • General Contractor: PKF Mark III, Inc.

Your collaboration was essential in achieving PCI-certified tolerances and ensuring the success of this complex structure.

Why It Matters

The Schuylkill River Bridge Trail is more than a bridge—it’s a vital link for pedestrians and cyclists, enhancing connectivity and promoting sustainable transportation in Philadelphia. Receiving these awards underscores the value of innovation and partnership in building infrastructure that serves communities for decades to come.
